Trigger warning: self harm
Caitlyn Scott-Lee, 16, is thought to have taken her own life the day before she was due to have her first ever detention
The father of an autistic schoolgirl who is believed to have taken her own life the day before she was due to have her first ever detention has paid tribute to his “daddy’s girl” at the inquest into her death.
Is it me or he uses very weird words to talk about her deceased daughter? It feels very off. And zero sense of his own responsibility.
Does he really think that she did it cause she “hyper-fixated”? Why the drama, Caitlyn, it should be an honour to sit for two hours in a room. 🙄
Her dad’s probably not the most socially competent person either
I am socially awkward, have been around socially awkward people my whole life. It’s not about being socially competent or not but daring to blame his daughter in an ableist way and not acknowledging she had too much pressure at home.
I’m not talking about awkwardness. Social competence also means recognizing when to recognise others for who they are, and not making things about yourself
Reading the article it seems to me that this girl was pushed ‘to excel’ beyond endurance…
“I saw photos of Caitlyn obtaining her scuba diving licence at age 10 in the Philippines, playing tennis in Scotland, modelling in Singapore, camping in Wales, riding helicopters in New Zealand, skiing across Japan, honing rifle marksmanship in Birmingham, driving at age 13 at Mercedes Brooklands, and hiking the Great Wall of China.”
She’s done more things than I have, and I’m probably an adult.
She was using secret powers, powers that aren’t available to most mortals. The power of being born in a wealthy family.
