PopOS. It was the easiest to get my Nvidia GPU set up and plays all the games that I wanna play without too much pain. I’ve been meaning to try something like Arch with KDE, something like what my SteamDeck is using… but I don’t wanna fuck around setting up Arch.

This is exactly how my local municipal fiber network works. The the county owns, and builds put, the fiber network and maintains it, selling network access to local ISPs who sell to customers.

Only shitty part is that if you want to have a connection built out that isn’t on their plan, you have to fund the fiber run to you from wherever the nearest spot is, and that can be many thousands of dollars.

I imagine if we expanded the program like you’re talking about in the rest of the world, we could actually run it fine, like, we have the ability to… It’s just that the people in power are fucking awful.

I mean … Of your mom’s still around… Maybe buy fish and like, ask to learn the recipe and cook it yourself? I’m not a mom, I’m a dad, but I cook a lot and if my kid wanted to learn what I do when cooking, that’d be cool.

I emailed my “care team” asking if they could help me figure out if I have been dealing with undiagnosed adult ADHD and they wrote back with a phone number to call.

I know your local library doesn’t have a free for all streaming service, but they lend books and all kinds of media… Just imagine if we could push it to where your local library DID have a Plex/Jellyfin/Netflix-esque service? Just log in with your library card! That’s the dream…

Honestly, for what I search for, DDG is sufficient, and it’s not gonna hassle me about subscriptions.

What I’d really like to find is something like a pihole for search, where you have your blocklist, cache of things you’ve searched already (your own mini search engine?), and then a fallback engine (DDG, bing, Google, whatever) for things it doesn’t already know.

I dunno. Search and AI botshit is everywhere, and it’s gonna keep getting worse. Self-hosting tools seems to be the only way to take control back.
