This has been a doozy of a year. And it’s the best year so far blah blah. So how are you all coping? Does it hit anyone else like a bolt of lightning that probably I - we - won’t die of old age?

That sucks. Last spring, my basement flooded. It hasn’t flooded in 60 years, or at least, not as far as my dad remembers.
But it’s also a solvable problem with better drainage. Drainage is designed for once-in-10-year-storms, but those metrics have shifted now. Would have been nice if we could spend that money and effort on feeding starving children instead. But we chose not to adress climate change on time.
That’s a basement though, try a whole neighborhood of unprepared people. Supposing climate change is as pressing of an issue as people say, the fact it’s “politicized” enough that people are partial to some countries aggravating it over others, and that governments are too indifferent to the levels in which each other engages in it to not make threats over it, makes it no surprise it hasn’t been addressed properly.
