Tolerance is a social contract. Those who abide by it are protected by it. Those who reject it are not

I see no reason to ‘tolerate’ pedophiles, for instance; are you saying that society should tolerate them? An extreme example, to be sure, but it’s still a valid example.

Similarly I see no reason to tolerate fascism in my representative democracy. Nor do I see a reason to tolerate seditionists and traitors that seek to destroy my representative democracy. Are you also saying our society should tolerate them, as well?

There are limits to everything, whether you like it or not. The alternative is chaos.

You are agreeing with what he just said. It’s a social contract. Those who break the social contract, pedophiles, fascists, et al, are not protected by the social contract.

shrug okay. Too many comments I’m responding to and it’s hard to keep track of them all, especially on a website I’m not that familiar with yet.

Yeah maybe it’s changed recently with the growth in popularity but as someone who’s gone to raves and festivals for well over a decade it’s always been one of the most welcoming cultures.

I know the more major festivals have gotten less so over the years but it’s more just generic assholes not Nazis.

The oddest thing to me was: even Bronies. Even Bronies have/had a Nazi problem.

        I present, ‘Aryanne’:

I think; if you dig deep enough in any larger fandom, you are bound to find some neo-nazis. A very loud minority of bronies painted a very large target on the rest of us with these beliefs. Especially because the outrage-fueled media ran off with a half cocked story again…

I still haven’t found out whether Aryanne was originally created as a joke or not. Unfortunately it’s hard for a brony to really-really hate a cute fictional pone like that, and there are a couple of great stories with her as a character (on the bad guy’s team of course).

I of course hate nazis with a passion, but nazi characters in fiction can be a useful vehicle for storytelling under the right circumstances.

I can’t believe this hasnt been taken down. This site is chock full of pussies who think this is advocating violence and you should just tolerate Nazi freedom of speech and try to win them over in the “marketplace of ideas.”

Similar situation with punk. There are still Nazi Punks, but they’re asking for trouble at most gigs or areas with that sort of influence. From Dead Kennedys to Chumba Wamba, folks make it known these days they’re not welcome. Shame about the few bands here and there still spreading the rhetorics, yet barking dogs will always be heard in the distance…

I was at a party in college & a young lady was having a not so great night. She passed out, horked up what apparently looked like Alice Springs Chicken from Outback, & one of her sorority sisters had drawn a swastika on her forehead.

My roommate & I knew where she lived. So I went to grab puke-a-potomous, she went to get her car.

By the time I got back to puke-a-potomous on the couch, someone had turned the swastika into a very crudely drawn Windows logo.

Now I kinda wanna see some NaziPunk get pinned down at a concert, while someone converts his offensive tattoos into corporate logos.

      My list is pretty short:

Nazis. Propagandists. Billionaires that affect society for their own benefit. People who hurt kids

Really it could just be two:

Propagandists and people who hurt kids.

Billionaires have no power without propaganda and Nazis aren’t made without propaganda.

Surveillance states and mobile recording devices in everyone’s pocket, plus a media machine that portrays any violence done as barbarism means that the people delivering haymakers to skinhead fucks are no longer safe themselves

You cannot logic someone out of a position that they didn’t use logic to get to.

Only two options really, play on their emotional reasoning to make them feel the victim of their own beliefs, or you know, make their physical safety in question.

Your assumptiom would most likely be wrong. The vast majority of punks in general are anti-racist and would gladly punch a Nazi. The ones that are most likely to actually deliver the punch are the bald guys in typical punk attire.

The original skinhead movement was very progressive, anti-racist, and there are plenty of skinhead punks still representing it in the exact same way. All of the skinhead punks in my area identify as SHARPS or Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice, and I don’t live in a super progressive place or anything.

Nazi skinhead punks aren’t seen in public much, nowadays, mostly thanks to the guaranteed violence from the people mentioned above. If they are brave enough to be in public, they will make it known with some sort of asshole patch, asshole tattoo, or doc marten boots with white laces, but I’ve never seen one at a normal punk show.
