A US counterterrorism expert explains the dynamics between Israel, Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas – and why Hezbollah presents new risks for the US and other places globally.
Hezbollah has been sending rockets into northern Israel since the start of the Gaza war, which began after Hamas and other militants invaded Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and killed nearly 1,200 people.
Do you think the article should rephrase this section?
Yes you are right, Hezbollah are acting in accordance to international law and taking actions to stop a genocide as well as defending themselves, which is perfectly reasonable.
“The conflict” the article is discussing is very clearly referring to the current war, and distinguishes this from previous shadow wars. The preamble also specifies the context of “the conflict.”
The Middle East is in much more volatile situation than it was even a year ago. This conflict has expanded far outside of fighting primarily between Israel and Hamas.
The war began when Hamas-led militant groups launched a surprise attack on Israel on 7 October, which involved a rocket barrage and a few thousand militants breaching the Gaza–Israel barrier, attacking Israeli civilian communities and military bases.
Ah yes, historic grievances again. The context of the article is clearly spelled out, as described previously. My discussion of the matter is pertinent to the content of the article, and I myself am not attempting to broaden context in order to force an angle the article isn’t making.
and I myself am not attempting to broaden context in order to force an angle the article isn’t making.
Why are people who defend Israel always such insufferable weasels?
You’re hiding behind an article that already takes things out of context and then you act as though it is the right thing to do to not provide any.
Of course you can’t “broaden the context”, or your entire point would fall apart. This is what Israel and its supporters do, they pick an arbitrary point in time, pretend that the conflict started then, and use that as an excuse to escalate.
I find it extremely insulting to mine and our collective intelligence when someone tries to argue otherwise. Nobody buys your victim complex anymore, have some decency and self respect and stop peddling it.
If I hit your face for 10 minutes straight and then stop 30 seconds (to take breath) and right then you hit me back, can I say “I wasn’t hiting you! You are the aggressor! I have the right to retaliate!”?
And it was all started by Bibi and his right wing coalition.

I don’t believe I said that. Can you provide a source indicating that they’ve changed their ways?

The conflict started before the current war.

“Began” -> “increased”
I think “began” is correct.

Let’s forget everything that happened since 1948, right?

Oh the irony.

You should let Wikipedia know then.
Maybe we should talk about how many people Israel pays to constantly skew reality in their favor on websites like that.

Interesting characterization.
So basically you are just talking out of your ass?
