This was a race between a B student and an orangutan throwing feces everywhere. We’re spending all our time talking about the questions the B student got wrong, but in the meantime we voted the orangutan as valedictorian and all he did was smear shit on the test and try to hump the microphone stand.

No her mistakes aren’t the problem. The problem is we’re willing to elect a monkey to shit on everything and blame an average decent person for losing.

    Fuck…

    A class of kids would TOTALLY elect a monkey… We’re just old high schoolers… We’re so fucked…

  • Dude if you’re on the left and you alienate boys and men you’re not alienating them from the patriarchy. You’re alienating them from the LEFT.

The patriarchy does it’s own alienating by being shitty to them by forcing them into toxic ideals masculinity and cutting them off from their humanity. We have to provide a welcoming community. We PRIDE OURSELVES on providing a welcoming community for victims of the patriarchy. For some reason some people on the left think that just because the patriarchy is topped by a small group of men that the rest of the men can’t be victims or don’t otherwise deserve a welcoming space where they can work on dismantling the patriarchy with us.

We’re destroying the pyramid from the bottom. We can only destroy the systems of oppression that affect US. If men don’t do their share we’ll never get to the people at the top. They’ll always be out of reach.

  • The fighting ensures we all stay intellectually honest. It’s a competitive market of ideas that creates positive, progressive ideology. The fighting is also internal, when one of us is fighting the systems that oppress us we all line up to help in solidarity.

Miss my with your pseudosuperiority and go crawl into whatever hateful right wing hole you call home.

  • Boooo. As a father of boys and girls it’s a HARD world for both right now. Completely different fights but let me tell you that my boys are suffering as much as my girls due to patriarchal expectations for their behaviours and the consequences of not complying.

The patriarchy is the problem, not boys. Don’t let your fears push you to hatred of a whole group of people that are just trying their best to be good people. It’s hard for young boys to resist the messages of the patriarchy, that was half the message in the Barbie movie. We can hate the behaviours without hating boys. We can solve the problem by tackling boys and men’s issues caused by the patriarchy and dismantle it together. We can’t dismantle the patriarchy by alienating, scapegoating, and allowing ourselves to hate so much of the population.

  • Lol “I don’t want to be a right wing asshole, I’m only doing this because you hurt my feelings”

Dude that’s the weakest thing I’ve ever heard. Being in the left means constantly fighting and being attacked by other leftists for being the wrong kind of leftist. That’s what it takes to be on the left and you never had it, it’s what the kids call a skill issue.

Go be a right wing asshole all you want but don’t pretend you didn’t want it all along!

  • That’s exactly it. The right is telling them they STILL have to be impossibly during stupid brutish and horny. That’s basically what an “Alpha Male ™” is. Only the left has an escape for that toxic definition of masculinity, I’m frankly baffled at how we’re losing the fight for boys and men. I’ve never seen the left fumble so badly. But there are a lot of great men on the left working HARD to fix that, so I have hope for the future

  • The left has TONS for men. You think men thrive under the patriarchy? Not being able to express emotions, not being able to express fraternal love, not being able to pursue “womanly” or"gay" passions. Men have rarely been more alone and less happy than they are now and left wing ideology can free them.

The left just doesn’t reach out like the right does. We could do a much better job.

The online left also doesn’t do a great job calling out sexism and other behaviours that uphold the patriarchy when it victimizes men. That’s pretty shameful and it’s hard for men to feel safe online in leftist spaces. In person I’ve never had a problem and people have been wonderful. But it’s a barrier to overcome that isn’t there on the right. The right says “you’re amazing because you’re a man, join us and regain your rightful amazing place that your deserve”. That’s a hard message when one side says you’re amazing as you are and the other, the side that prides itself of being open and accepting, is proud to tell you you’re worse than a bear and you shouldn’t feel hurt by that because it’s what you deserve.

  • Wow, I have no clue how you thought this fact was enough to argue against “Trump is objectively worse than Obama”.

Trump is by far, and I mean by an unreal margin, the WORST human being to ever hold the seat of President of the United States of America. There is no debate that Trump is objectively the worst.

Now sure some people did some things more than others. That’s true for everything. Obama deporting illegal immigrants is nothing like the racism and hatred towards racialized Americans has stoked on the last 8 years. An illegal immigrant KNOWS their number could be up at any time, it’s not a hateful act to legally deport them. But now, EVERY minority in the US, and all women, know their number might get called at any time, and that’s a fear that no lawful citizen deserves.

The patriarchy is hierarchy. Like all hierarchies, it’s pyramid shaped. It’s not a rectangle with all men on top and all women in the bottom. It’s a SMALL group of rich men oppressing everyone else. Sure MOST men are given more “power” than MOST women in the structure. That’s the deal the small group of oppressors gave to keep their power. They also give power to strong women who toe the line. But the idea that most men aren’t oppressed in the patriarchy is utterly ridiculous. You seriously think every man you see around you is secretly part of a cabal trying to keep you and other women down? You think that they have no problems, no burdensome expectations placed on them by the patriarchy to keep them in place? That they benefit from toxic masculinity instead of suffer by it? I’m sorry but you have a very dark view of 50% of the population if you think they’re the oppressor class and you’re in the victim class.

We’re all victims of the patriarchy unless we’re old rich white men. The only thing that separates us is the degree of victimisation.

“woe is men” isn’t a comparison to women.

Women are victimized by the patriarchy in many ways. Men are victimized by the patriarchy in many ways.

Everyone suffers from the patriarchy. We need to dismantle the patriarchy both by fighting our own fights AND by supporting eachother.

We don’t win by dismissing eachother’s pains as invalid or less important.

  • I mean that’s bound to happen. If the main thing that draws you to a space is that you’re all being abused by women in one way or another, then it’s probably going to end up being a place to hate on women and therefore attract women haters like incels.

Men’s lib should be a space where we fight the injustices imposed on men by the dominant hierarchy. Like the fact that we’re assumed to be worse at caring for our kids than their mothers and that this assumption disadvantages us in court. Or the fact we’re assumed to be abusers and that being a victim somehow makes us be seen as lesser men and automatically deserving of the abuse we get (like in this comic). Or the fact that we’re assumed to BE/BE PART OF the dominant hierarchy and therefore can’t be victims of it, even though we can lose our “manlyness” through something as simple or human as crying when we’re sad.

Only with this mindset can we channel our victimisation into positive action rather than towards hatred of women.
