I’m so sorry. I went through something similar myself, including one doctor who told me that I couldn’t possibly have ADHD since people with ADHD supposedly don’t get depressed. I tried being patient and played along for quite a while and have been through so many antidepressants. It wasn’t until my mid-20s, and dropping out of college twice that I finally got anyone to listen to me. Cherry on the cake? Suddenly my parents finally believed me, and my youngest sibling was diagnosed shortly after.
I would suggest calling around some places that aren’t covered by your insurance (specifically psychiatrists that list ADHD as a specialty), as they may offer lower prices for “self pay” patients. I think the one I saw when I was uninsured charged under $100/visit, and once we found a good dosage, they’d write me 3 months worth of prescriptions at a time. Now that I have a formal diagnosis and a history of being prescribed ADHD medication, getting a new doctor to prescribe the same medication has been much easier.
My employer offered me a modest severance package, and set my last day to be the first working day of the month, meaning my health care benefits are valid for almost a full month after my last day.
Tell me you’re American without telling me you’re American
Close, but not quite. One thing I notice a lot around here (Lemmy/fediverse) that suggests many users are elder millennials or older, is the frequent use of 2 spaces after a period. I don’t really notice as much of that in other online communities.
My current phone game is ∞ Loop. Just a simple puzzle-type game.
I also like a variety of solitaire card games, but the app I used to like has become quite enshittified, and I haven’t found a good replacement.
Ahh, going to the Google news webpage on my phone does give me quite different results compared to when I swipe left from my phone’s home screen.
Interesting. I mindlessly swipe over to the news feed on my Pixel more than I’d like to admit, and it only gives me horoscope type stuff very rarely… Definitely not frequently enough for me to bother trying to block it. I wonder why you’re seeing so much more of it?
I’m not really concerned that my 2 views aren’t counted as 2 separate views, but if it had 8 views when you watched it, shouldn’t it have at least 9 views when I watched it after reading your comment?
I’ve been using whatbox as my seed box for nearly 10 years now. I’m on their USD 15/month plan, and they’ve upgraded my storage & bandwidth twice now in that time without increasing my costs.
Can anyone recommend some stable general purpose instances that federate with dbzer0? I believe lemmy.world defederated, as the link doesn’t work for me. I had a kbin account, but that seems to be dead, and I’d like to minimize the number of accounts I have to use to access things.
Wait, how does the view counter work? It still shows just 8 views, and I’ve viewed it twice.
I use shampoo maybe once per month, usually only when necessary to remove products such as bleach/dye. Just rinsing it with water is usually enough, but when my hair starts feeling more greasy (maybe once per week), I just use conditioner to help loosen up the dirt. If you’re curious, look up “cowashing” and “no poo” for more information.
Wait, what? My cat only spoons with me when I lay on my left side, so of course I prefer laying on my left side now. Does he know something I don’t??
Ugh! I’m so sorry, that’s so frustrating! I’m dealing with something kinda similar, and I can’t help but feel like they’re just trying to set me up to “fail”. I’ve been on dextroamphetamine XR for over 10 years, and with my current doctor for 4 years. I recently got a phone call saying that I’ll have to provide a urine sample before they authorize any more refills. When I asked why, all they would say is “it’s policy.”
I’m also in a state with legal recreational marijuana and partake intermittently (probably similar amount as you), and have been very honest with my doctor about that. Additionally, I end up skipping doses sometimes when the side effects (jaw clenching/pain) outweigh the benefits, which is another thing that I’ve discussed with my doctor.
I was planning to switch insurance plans (and therefore doctors) in the new year, so this just gave me one more reason to follow through with that plan.
Whoa! Checking out street view, I’m so impressed by the bike/scooter shares all being parked relatively neatly in designated areas at either end of the block where they aren’t blocking the pedestrian paths!
Sorry, lol, that was definitely not my intention! I’ve definitely heard about the “no tattoos” thing before, especially for those following Judaism, but I’d never read the relevant text before, so it definitely surprised me. I may have to ask my sister about it, since that’s definitely her area of study.
Reading through various translations, the first part seems to say "don’t cut/gash your body in honor/memory/mourning of the dead, but most of the translations leave it somewhat ambiguous (at least to me) as to whether it means “don’t tattoo yourself in honor/memory/mourning of the dead” or just, “don’t tattoo yourself at all”. Also, it sounds as though cutting/gashing yourself for other reasons is isn’t breaking any rules.
its why you want a headboard behind your bed.
I don’t understand… possibly because I’ve skipped the headboard for many, many years of my life. Could you please explain?
That’s kinda what I assumed, but say the parent lives in a state with filial responsibility laws, but the child doesn’t. Can the child still be forced to support their parents? A brief internet search suggests maybe, but these laws are generally not enforced (except Pennsylvania), and also usually take into account the child’s ability to support the parent.
Just seems pretty fucked up that someone’s parents could move to State B with these laws to retire, and suddenly their kids, who have never lived in State B, are potentially being held to State B’s laws.
